Introduction
Karnataka is the sacred land of Indian continent. Nandidurga belongs to Kolar district. This is famous Shiva Kshetra in south India, this is famous birds hilly sanctuary second to Udakamandala. This is 53kms from Bangalore on NH7. This is located to North of Bangalore, 8kms away from Chikkaballapur. Nandidurga is 1478meter high from the sea level. Hear the environment is very cool, hence the name Nandagiri. This place had been ruled by Pallavas, Nolambas, Rashtrakutas, Gangas, Cholas and Hoysalas etc. In olden days during Tretayuga, this province was ruled by Karthaveerarjuna belonged to Haya dynasty. Jamadagni Rushi was under penance. The king killed Jamadagni. So Parashuram son of Jamadagni killed. The king and declared to kill all kshatriyas. Hayahaya family members were suffering from the curse of Brahmahathya. Hence Chola king started to establish and perform one Shivalinga every day for this reason, Chola king Invited Jagath guru Chandragundadeshikandra Shiva acharya from Shrishaila. Chola king become the disciple of Jagadhguruji .He also received Shiva diksha and manthropadesha from Jagadhguruji so Brahmahathya dosha burnt into ashes. Jagadhguruji blessed the Chola king. Chola king requested the Jagadhguruji for which Jagadhguruji came to Nadigiri and stated performing penance. Jagadhguruji established a very huge Nadishwara in Nadidurga valley and named the place Nandigiri. At the same time, Chola king have named the temple on the hilly areas as Yoganandishwara and Bhoganandishwara. The successive generations of Chola king are being called as Sajjanasamaja. In Bhoganandishwara temple, Devi Parvathi is sitting on the left lap of Parameshwara. The idol of Basava Is situated opposite to the Parameshwara This is the most beautiful place in Karnataka.
